Mariafernanda Herrera
The Jennison Charitable Foundation is delighted to announce that Mariafernanda Herrera, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been awarded a prestigious $1,000 academic scholarship to support her tuition at Columbia University this fall, where she plans to major in Financial Economics and Political Science.
Mariafernanda was selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants due to her exceptional academic achievements, active involvement in extracurricular activities, and her steadfast commitment to making a positive impact in her community.
Mariafernanda graduated from Parkway Center City Middle College High School on June 9th, achieving an impressive GPA of 4.4. She was honored as a “Hometown Hero” by the Philadelphia Phillies and served as president of the National Honor Society chapter at her school. Additionally, she founded both the art club and the math tutoring club. During her high school tenure, Mariafernanda collaborated with the University of Pennsylvania on two capstone projects focused on addressing climate change and enhancing aging water infrastructure in underserved communities.
